Admission Process

At Eden Gardens Private Hospital, we understand that preparing for a hospital stay can sometimes feel overwhelming. Our admissions process is designed to make your admission as simple, efficient and stress-free as possible. Our experienced Pre-Admissions Staff are available to guide you through the necessary administrative requirements and help ensure that you have the correct documentation before your scheduled admission.

Whether you are being admitted for a planned procedure, treatment or hospital stay, preparing the required information in advance can help reduce delays and make your hospital admissions process as smooth as possible.

Preparing for Your Admission

Before arriving at Eden Gardens Private Hospital, please ensure that you have all the required documents and information available. Having these documents ready will allow our admissions team to process your admission efficiently and confirm the necessary medical aid or financial arrangements.

For your admissions process, please bring the following:

  • Medical aid card – Your current medical aid membership card.
  • Medical aid authorisation number – The relevant authorisation number obtained from your medical aid provider before admission, where applicable.
  • Identification documents – A valid South African ID document or passport. For children, please bring their birth certificate or appropriate identification documentation.
  • Referral letter – A referral or admission letter from your treating or referring doctor.
  • Medical and procedure information – A letter from your doctor listing all relevant medical codes, including the applicable ICD-10 code and procedure codes for the treatment or procedures you will undergo.
  • Supporting medical documentation – Any additional reports, referrals, medical records or supporting documents provided by your doctor that may be relevant to your admission.

Providing the correct documentation before your hospital admission helps our team verify your information and complete the necessary administrative requirements efficiently.

Medical Aid Admissions

If you are being admitted using medical aid, it is important to contact your medical aid provider before your scheduled admission to confirm your benefits and obtain the necessary authorisation.

Your medical aid authorisation number and supporting documentation may be required as part of the admissions process. Patients should also ensure that their medical aid details are current and that their planned procedure or treatment has been authorised where required.

Our Pre-Admissions Staff can assist with the hospital’s admission requirements and advise you on the information that needs to be provided. However, patients remain responsible for confirming their medical aid benefits, authorisation and available cover with their medical aid provider.

Patients can contact their medical aid provider directly to confirm their benefits, pre-authorisation requirements and available cover before admission. For general information about medical schemes and your rights as a medical scheme member, visit the Council for Medical Schemes.

Private Patients Without Medical Aid

Patients who do not have medical aid will receive information regarding the estimated costs associated with their planned admission. An estimated deposit amount will be provided before admission, based on the anticipated treatment, procedure and applicable hospital costs.

The required deposit should be paid in accordance with the hospital’s requirements before admission. Our team will provide the relevant information to assist private patients in preparing for the financial aspects of their hospital stay.

If you are a private patient, we recommend discussing your admission requirements with our Pre-Admissions Staff before arriving at the hospital.

Making Your Hospital Admission Easier

A little preparation can make the admissions process considerably easier. We recommend gathering all your documents in advance and confirming any medical aid authorisation requirements before your scheduled admission.

If you have been referred by a doctor for a procedure or treatment, ensure that you have received all relevant documentation, including referral letters, ICD-10 codes, procedure codes and any other supporting medical information.

Arriving with the correct documentation allows our team to verify your details and complete the necessary admission procedures efficiently.
