Antenatal Classes at Eden Gardens Private Hospital

Prepare for Childbirth with Confidence

Pregnancy is an exciting and memorable journey, but preparing for the arrival of your baby can also bring many questions. Understanding what to expect during childbirth, your hospital stay and the first days of parenthood can help expectant mothers feel more informed and confident.

Eden Gardens Private Hospital offers free antenatal classes in Pietermaritzburg to help expectant mothers prepare for childbirth and the journey into parenthood.

Our antenatal classes provide useful information, guidance and support in a welcoming environment. The programme is designed to help mothers better understand what to expect as they approach the birth of their baby and prepare for their stay at the hospital.

What Are Antenatal Classes?

Antenatal classes are educational sessions designed to help expectant parents prepare for childbirth and life with a newborn baby.

Pregnancy can involve many physical and emotional changes, and it is natural for expectant mothers to have questions about labour, delivery, hospital admission and caring for a newborn.

Attending antenatal classes provides an opportunity to receive helpful information and guidance before your baby’s arrival.

The classes at Eden Gardens Private Hospital are intended to support expectant mothers as they prepare for this important stage of their pregnancy and the transition into parenthood.

Preparing for Your Hospital Stay

Preparing for childbirth involves more than simply waiting for your baby’s arrival. Knowing what to expect when you come to hospital can help you feel more prepared for the experience.

Our antenatal programme provides expectant mothers with information to help them prepare for their hospital stay and the important events surrounding childbirth.

Mothers may also find it helpful to familiarise themselves with the hospital’s Maternity Ward, where they can learn more about the maternity services available at Eden Gardens Private Hospital.

Being prepared can help reduce uncertainty and allow expectant mothers to focus on welcoming their new baby.

Preparing for Life with Your Newborn

Welcoming a new baby brings many new experiences and responsibilities.

The period before birth is a valuable opportunity for expectant mothers to begin preparing for the changes that come with becoming a parent.

Our antenatal classes aim to provide helpful information and support as mothers prepare for the journey ahead.

At Eden Gardens Private Hospital, our maternity and newborn services are designed to support mothers and babies throughout different stages of their hospital experience.

Following delivery, mothers may receive care in our Postnatal Ward, while newborn babies requiring specialised medical care may receive the appropriate level of support through our neonatal services.

Supporting Expectant Mothers

Pregnancy is a unique experience, and every expectant mother may have different questions and concerns.

Our classes provide a supportive environment where mothers can prepare for childbirth while receiving useful information about their upcoming hospital experience.

Attending the programme can help mothers feel more familiar with the journey ahead and provide an opportunity to prepare before their baby’s arrival.

The four-week programme allows expectant mothers to receive information over a series of sessions rather than trying to prepare for everything at once.

Part of Your Maternity Journey

The antenatal classes form part of the wider maternity and newborn care experience available at Eden Gardens Private Hospital.

From preparing for childbirth through to postnatal care, our hospital provides access to healthcare services designed to support mothers and babies.

Expectant mothers can also explore information about our Maternity Ward, Postnatal Ward, NICU and NNICU services to better understand the different areas of care available at the hospital.

These services work together to support mothers and newborn babies according to their individual healthcare requirements.
